Do you know these players?
A couple of very badly behaved squash players were spotted on court this
week but left before we were able to have a stern word with them.
Fortunately we caught them on camera. If you know who they are please let us
know.

their antics. With thanks to

Squash - Club Championship
Finals start at 5:15pm Sunday 29th April
Herts Squash Cup
Team Championship Radlett 19th April
2007 Just Rackets Hertfordshire Cup
Finals
At Radlett Lawn Tennis & Squash Club
A fantastic night of squash was enjoyed by all as Potters Bar, Biggleswade
and Cannons St. Albans won the Hertfordshire Cup titles sponsored by sports
racket and clothing company Just Rackets.
The Mens Junior Cup and Ladies Rose Bowl were fiercely contested Finals.
Honours were shared at the start of the match between defending Champions
Biggleswade and Harlow with Adam Grilli (Harlow) and Martin Wright
(Biggleswade) winning very long matches, Chris Chinn (Biggleswade) outplayed
his opponent to win 3-0 and Paul Squirrell (Harlow) was 2-0 and 8-7 up
against the Biggleswade number 1 and looked like it was going to be down to
the number 2 string match but Tony Rumbold staged a magnificent recovery to
win the third game 10-8 and then the next two to retain the trophy for
Biggleswade. Temelko Kostevski (Harlow) won the number 2 string match 3-0 to
make the score line respectable.
The Ladies Final was just as exciting, Sally Philp (Cannons) came back from
2-0 down to win in five tough games, Elke Rubsam (Haileybury) played
excellently to keep her team in the match as she beat the Cannons number 1,
3-1. The last match between Lesley Garner (Cannons) and Jenny Pilgrim (Haileybury)
was a seesaw encounter and the shifts of power constantly changing, however
Lesley held on for a memorable win to take the Rose Bowl title for Cannons
St.Albans.
The crowd were treated to some wonderful squash in the Mens Senior Cup
Final, British Under 19 Champion Adrian Waller (Potters Bar) showed us all
his talent and skill by putting in a mature and assured performance against
Essex county player Rory Pennell to win 3-1. Geoff Taylor (Broxbourne) raced
into an early lead against the world ranked Jago Nardelli but was cursing
his luck when he lost the second and third games 10-8 and 10-9, Jago used
all his worldly experience to win the match in four games and put his
Potters Bar team 2-0 ahead. Neil Waller (Potters Bar) put on a fine
exhibition as he comfortably beat James Clyne 3-0. Malaysian World Number 19
Azlan Iskander (Potters Bar) treated the appreciative crowd to a masterclass
in how to play squash as he destroyed England Over 40 Captain Peter Gunter
for the loss of 3 points. Finally Keith Timms (Broxbourne) played
fantastically well and prevented a Potters Bar whitewash to come back from
2-0 down against former England Junior Captain Phil Barker to win 9-2 in the
fifth game.
Thanks once again to Gary Spindler from Just Rackets for sponsoring the
event, to Radlett Lawn Tennis and Squash Club and their staff for hosting
the Finals and to the Hertfordshire Squash Committee for organising this
popular event and for supplying the food afterwards.

Ben Davis in big tennis win at La Manga
Ben won the Sunday Telegraph Junior
Masters in La Manga last Friday.
There is a picture and a brief report on the Telegraph
website.
http://juniorsport.telegraph.co.uk/tennis/latest_news.php
"The standard of the Junior Grand
Prix, which is sponsored by The Sunday Telegraph and Center Parcs, just gets
better and better. Now in it's ninth year, and for the fifth on the
excellent clay courts of La Manga, it made one believe that producing a
French Open champion might not be such an impossibility after all.
Several players caught the eye in that respect but perhaps two who looked
particularly comfortable on the surface were Ben Davis in the boys 14 and
under and little Amy Sargeant in the girls 18 and under."
Ben
was very pleased that Wilson approached him and have asked him to test and
evaluate their new strings for next season.
Sky Sports recorded the finals and a highlights program will be broadcast in
December.
Ben is currently ranked no.3 in the UK in the 14U age group. He has been selected by the LTA to represent Great Britain in the prestigious Junior Orange Bowl Tournament which takes place in Miami in December.
